The Opportunity

Frances-Higgins Projects is recruiting experienced Groundworkers for permanent opportunities with a growing civil engineering contractor.

There is one role available across two location options: a dedicated opportunity based at Heysham Nuclear Power Station in Lancashire, and a wider UK-based role for candidates who are happy to travel and stay away from home when required.

Both positions offer long-term PAYE employment, consistent work, overtime opportunities and the chance to develop your skills through company-funded training and additional qualifications.

Locations & Pay

Heysham Nuclear Power Station, Lancashire: £17–£20 per hour, with higher rates potentially available depending on experience and tickets.
UK-wide projects – Worksop-based: £16–£21 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications and tickets. Candidates must be willing to travel and stay away when required.

The contractor's head office is based in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. Travel and accommodation are provided when required for work.

Key Responsibilities

Carrying out drainage installation and repairs.
Undertaking excavation, trenching and ground preparation.
Installing ducting and underground utilities.
Completing kerbing, edging and finishing works.
Carrying out concrete works and reinstatement.
Supporting plant operators and other site operatives.
Following site drawings, specifications and instructions.
Maintaining high standards of health and safety.
Working collaboratively with the wider civil engineering team.

Essential Requirements

Valid CSCS card.
Previous groundworks experience within civil engineering, construction or infrastructure projects.
A reliable, hardworking and safety-conscious approach.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Willingness to travel or work at Heysham Nuclear Power Station, depending on the position applied for.

Additional plant, machinery or streetworks tickets would be advantageous.
