About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HV/LV Jointer to join our team working across primary substations based in the Walsall area, with travel to various sites throughout the UK . The role involves installation, jointing, termination, and testing of high and low voltage cables (LV up to 11kV, HV up to 33kV) within live substation environments while ensuring compliance with UK industry safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Jointing and terminating LV and HV cables up to 33kV in substation and distribution networks
Carrying out cable installations, glanding, earthing, and substation connection works
Working on switchgear, CT/PT metering, and substation control cables
Performing inspection, fault-finding, and cable testing
Ensuring all work is completed in line with DNO/IDNO standards, G81, HSG47, and NRSWA
Maintaining strict adherence to Safety Rules, SSOW, and substation entry requirements
Completing detailed job packs, test sheets, and asset documentation
Participating in outage planning and network shutdown works
Essential Skills & Qualifications
✅ Proven experience as an HV/LV Jointer
✅ Competent jointing HV cables up to 33kV
✅ Experience working inside UK substations (DNO/Private)
✅ Current Authorisations for Substation Entry / Safety Rules preferred
)✅ CSCS/EUSR/Persons card (or equivalent)
✅ Strong understanding of electrical safety practices and cable testing
✅ Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
DNO/SAP or Cable Jointing Authorisations
G81 or DNO jointing ticket(s)
First Aid, Manual Handling, SHEA Power
Experience with protection/control cable terminations
Slinger/Signaller or LV network operational experience
