Salary: £37,000 – £45,000 + package + overtime

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Start Date: ASAP


About the Role

Frances-Higgins Projects are seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join a well developed team delivering work on SSEN Substation Projects across the South of England.You’ll be part of a skilled engineering team responsible for installation, maintenance, and refurbishment of mechanical systems within HV substations, supporting ongoing infrastructure and network upgrade works.


Key Responsibilities

  • Installation, assembly, and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment on HV substations.

  • Working to SSEN and National Grid standards and procedures.

  • Supporting commissioning activities and liaising with electrical and civil teams.

  • Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in compliance with company and client safety requirements.

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.


Requirements

  • Proven experience working on HV substation projects (132kV / 275kV / 400kV).

  • Recognised mechanical trade qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).

  • Strong understanding of substation safety procedures and mechanical systems.

  • SSE Authorisations highly desirable.

  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel between regional sites.
