Salary: £75,000 – £100,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Frances-Higgins Projects is looking to appoint an experienced Portfolio Manager to lead the delivery of high-voltage substation projects. Working across multiple UK locations, this is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for ensuring multiple projects are executed to the highest technical, commercial, and quality standards.
About the Role
As Portfolio Manager, you will drive the successful delivery of large-scale, multidisciplinary infrastructure programmes. You’ll lead from the front, overseeing design, engineering, commercial control, and client management.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
Take full accountability for the technical performance, budget, and schedule of each project.
Coordinate internal design and engineering disciplines under our Lead Consultant model.
Ensure all deliverables meet or exceed client expectations and project quality benchmarks.
Manage project scope changes and ensure commercial consequences are properly captured and actioned.
Commercial Oversight
Lead financial tracking, profitability analysis, and reporting across all assigned projects.
Produce monthly project financial updates and contribute to senior-level performance reviews.
Agree fees, scope, and staged drawdown schedules with clients.
Issue timely invoices and follow up on payments
Client Engagement & Business Development
Serve as the primary interface with key clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Handle escalations and ensure swift, effective resolution of any delivery issues.
Support the identification of follow-on work and cross-sell opportunities within client organisations.
Participate in business development activities, including tender presentations and stakeholder meetings.
Candidate Requirements
Ideally BEng or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience managing high-voltage substation projects
Strong experience in presales support, engineering coordination, and project execution.
Commercially astute with confidence managing project budgets and reporting.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and relevant design/project management tools.
